These were a quick-knit. I knit one side pretty much while on the train and the other randomly. It was easy to learn the cables and quite satisfying to see. I have to get started on the scarf cause I have quite a bit of yarn leftover.

The luck of the Irish

I'm trying out cables and it's much easier than I thought it would have been. When I first tried out cables I was making it up as I went along and not following pattern and so I clearly had problems. I'm making myself a pair of Irish Hiking Armwarmers (and yes, I'm going to make a scarf to match.) I'm making the pair much longer than the way the pattern says to make it - I want mine up to pretty much where my elbows start.

Haven't done much but this is what it's like right now. The colour is not accurate here.

Basketweave Pencil Case

Okay, so being sick disabled me from having access to the joys of Wal-mart to buy myself a zip and this weekend I got fed-up seeing that strip of knitted goodness just lying there on the needles without purpose so I binded it off and seamed it up and now I have a pencil case. Without any kind of closure. I'm calling it a finished object because really, the knitting portion is done I just need to eventually get myself a zip (and then line it.)

Ahem.

Doesn't hold me back from putting some of my highlighters and pens though.

T-Shirt Reconstruction

A black and white affair


This morning I resisted the urge to do anything moderately crafty so that I could write my article and get it in on deadline. My reward for finishing? I got to re-construct an old tee.

Here's the thing, I originally was going to make a tie/wrap shirt but then I realized the shirt I felt like reconstructing was too small for that anyways and as I was lazy to bring out the sewing machine and thread the bobbin, I opted for the simplest thing I could do. You'll notice in the pictures how one side is shorter than the other but that's because it's rolling. Eventually I'll bring out the sewing machine and hem it.

WIP: Basketweave Pencil Case (Update #2)

So after watching House and Gilmore Girls last night I pretty much finished the knitting portion of the pencil case. I have yet to bind off because I'm not sure if I want it this length or not. I forgot to make button holes along the way and don't particularly understand nor want to put them in now. I'm going to line it and hopefully add a zip but that means I have to get one first of all. Once I get a zip I'll bind off.

For not that much work, I like the way the Basketweave looks. It actually looks pretty cool on the back too.

iPod Cozy (Updated)

Mmm buttons.

So I wanted to put a button on my cozy and remove the super-long cord/ribbon that I used to tie it closed with.

WIP: Basketweave Pencil Case (update)

So I've done several repeats of the basketweave pattern from the book but I'm getting a stockinette border along one edge that is not in the image of the pattern in the book. I've double and triple checked to make sure that I'm following the pattern correctly and I am but despite the border not being in the image in the book, it's most definitely in my knitting.

I know I can still work with it but still. =S Is this supposed to happen? Hmm...
